Chemical Peels – Ipswich

A chemical peel is a treatment in which an acid solution is used to remove the damaged outer layers of the skin. In performing chemical peels, application can be with alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) or trichloroacetic acid (TCA).

A chemical peel enhances and smooths the texture of the skin. It is an effective treatment for facial blemishes, wrinkles, and uneven skin pigmentation. They exfoliate or remove the outer layers of dead skin, revealing a new skin layer with improved tone, texture, and colour. The chemical peel is one of the oldest cosmetic procedures in the world, and was performed in ancient Rome, Egypt, and Greece, to help people achieve smoother, more beautiful skin. Today, chemical facial peels are popular because they offer nearly immediate results and can be performed in a short space of time.

Glycolic Peel

Glycolic Acid is an Alpha hydroxy acid or AHA. They are a group of water-soluble carboxylic acids that work to release the desmosomes that hold skin cells together. This action allows for easier exfoliation and increased cell turnover. AHA are also thought to stimulate fibroblasts to produce elastin and collagen to strengthen the matrix and firm the skin. AHAs are water loving so they are especially good for oily acne prone skin and unclogging pores. The beauty of these peels is that you can vary the strength and build it up over time or just stay mild but more regular. There should be no pain or extreme redness, the most you should feel is tingling on the skin surface.  Glycolic peels have been around for decades so we know how they behave and what to expect. Their effect can be maximised with complimentary skincare at home such as Glycolic facial washes and retinol creams.

Therapeutic PCA Pumpkin Mask (Re-texturizing)

This nutritive treatment mask addresses thick, resilient skin with acne, sun damage or hyperkeratolytic buildup. This Therapeutic Pumpkin Mask combines exfoliating pumpkin enzymes and salicylic acid along with a host of antibacterial and antioxidant ingredients to address rough-textured skin caused by keratinization, leaving a healthy complexion following treatment. I use it during my Tropic facial to give an introductory taste of a peel as it is very tingly but it can also be used on its own.
